Soberana in Action: solidarity with the fire brigades of Arganil, Tábua, Coja and Vila Nova de Oliveirinha

The Sovereign Grand Lodge of Portugal has once again honoured its Masonic commitments of Solidarity, putting into practice the greatest principle that unites us: standing beside those most in need.

In recent days the country has been ravaged by fires of enormous scale, striking the centre of the country hard. In Arganil, Tábua, Coja and Vila Nova de Oliveirinha, the fight against the flames mobilises fire brigades and volunteers daily who, with courage and sacrifice, protect lives, homes and our collective heritage.

Aware of this reality, a team from Soberana travelled from Lisbon to the heart of the action, taking provisions, essential goods and human support to the three local fire brigades. This gesture, modest though it is beside the greatness of the mission of those who face the fire, is a concrete expression of the Masonic commitment to society.

Because this is what Being a Mason means: to do, to do, to do.
Solidarity is not merely proclaimed — it is lived, practised and multiplied.

This initiative is one more example of Soberana’s active presence alongside communities, side by side with those who, every day, risk their lives for the common good.

We know we shall never be enough for the immensity of the work we set ourselves. But, united, we shall keep moving forward, giving meaning to our duty to light up the world with small gestures that make a difference.
